Cubs Will Look To Add 'Impact Pitching'

Oct 26, 2015 7:16 AM

Theo Epstein addressed the media on Thursday, less than 24 hours after the New York Mets swept the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS.

The team's first priority this offseason will be to add pitching.

"We want to continue to add impact pitching, we want to continue to add starting-pitching depth at the big league level," Epstein said.

Chicago signed Jon Lester last offseason and they will likely be linked to most top-level starters this winter.

"Some good things are happening with the pitching," Epstein said of the organization, "but we have to continue to be aggressive and add as we did last winter."

Mets Now Expected To Issue Daniel Murphy Qualifying Offer

Oct 22, 2015 7:14 AM

The New York Mets now plan to offer Daniel Murphy the one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer following his impressive postseason.

Even at the beginning of his hot streak, the belief was that the Mets would let Murphy walk in free agency.

No player has even accepted a qualifying offer, which would give the Mets a compensatory draft pick if he signs elsewhere.

Cueto, who will turn 30 in February, will be one of the top pitching options on the market.

The Red Sox are at least considering a major push for the right-hander, according to a Major League source.
